ART AND PRAYER

VIDEO SERIES

Contemplative Prayer

This video series uses artwork to help people deepen their prayer life. Combined with the use of scripture, artwork becomes a tool to aid participants to speak with and listen to God. This practice is often called Visio Divina (which translates as Divine Seeing).

As Henri Nouwen says, "Our true challenge is to return to the center, to the heart, and to find there the gentle voice that speaks to us and affirms us in a way no human voice ever could."

The videos come in two forms:

  1. The full episodes of "Praying With an Artist and Their Work". These are 17 to 25 minutes. On YouTube.

  2. The shorts "60 Seconds with an Artist and Their Work" which are clips from the larger episodes.  On YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Please look in the video descriptions for the links to the original 9x16 videos if you are on a mobile device.

You are encouraged not just to watch the episodes but to use them to spur you to prayer.
